METTLER TOLEDO

Product Range

True 'fit for purpose' needle detectors - designed to function in a real factory environment.

Needle DetectorOur needle detector range:

  • detects better than 1mm of ferrous material
  • has unmatched tolerance to non-ferrous metal accessories
  • is able to work undisturbed by voltage fluctuations and magnetic noise
  • has a simple 2 minute belt change facility
  • is approved by major international retailers

The technology used to develop our machines is the most
advanced technology available and is unsurpassed in terms of:

  • detection sensitivity
  • ability to withstand external interference
  • advanced reporting facilities

Features

1. Our detectors easily exceed the performance standards and requirements of the Codes of Practice, followed by all leading retailers.

2. Sensitivity quoted at the weakest point inside the detection tunnel – true measure of detection ability.

3. 'Plug & Play' performance - all detectors are pre-programmed to the required sensitivity of detection.

4. Unmatched tolerance to non-ferrous materials – buttons, zips, buckles etc.

5. High immunity to disturbances from external electro-magnetic and mains borne interference allows the needle detector to be positioned within the production line, no ‘exclusion zones’ or voltage stabilisers will be required.

6. Automatic ‘test me’ feature guarantees optimum performance throughout production.

7. Ability to identify contaminant location

8. Long life expectancy – No permanent magnets to weaken over time. Our solid encapsulated detector head and fully welded polished stainless steel frame construction gives lifetime strength, durability and appearance.

9. Balanced Coil design – does not require routine de-magnetisation of the conveyor and other metal parts.

10.  Advanced software has reporting, communication, product-learn and data memory functions.

11.  On screen product and reject counts.

12. Security key function ensures factory Quality Assurance procedures are adhered to.

13. Password protected against unauthorised access.

14. Low cost of ownership. Lasting value. No gimmicks.

* Allow approximately 12mm (0.5 inch) minimum clearance all around the product for its clean passage through the tunnel on the conveyor belt, without touching the sides.

** Detection Sensitivity measured in 'free space', at the weakest point inside the tunnel = Point 'A5' in GAP Calibration Chart.

(NOTE: The ‘Free Space’ sensitivity stated above is the full sensitivity that can be achieved as per factory settings and conditions. The sensitivity data is presented as a general guide; practical achievable sensitivity will depend on a number of factors which are beyond our control. These factors may include product type, size, packaging and operating environment. For textile applications in particular, attention is drawn to the potential presence of ferrous mineral residue, acquired through, dyeing, washing and other fabric treatment processes, which could render the final product with a magnetic profile (‘product effect’), large enough to compromise the stated sensitivity specification. It should be noted that any packaging, unless made from virgin board, is likely to contain variable amounts of ferrous contamination due to recycled material, and is therefore not recommended for use in needle detection application.)

If you are unsure about compatibility of any of your products with metal detection, please don’t hesitate to send us samples of your complete products, as well as a set of metal accessories. Please include any other embellishments and packaging which comprise the final product and we will happy to test them for you.
